We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Credit Analyst to join our clients Credit Risk team, focusing on the hospitality sector, particularly hotel financing across European markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently assessing and managing credit risk for a portfolio of hotel clients, transactions, and counterparties, including both balance sheet and off-balance sheet exposures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth credit risk assessments for new transactions and periodic reviews of existing clients within the hotel and broader hospitality sector.
  • Lead the credit analysis process for large and complex financings, including investment and development loans, syndicated deals, and structured transactions.
  • Produce high-quality, clearly articulated credit proposals and recommendations for submission to internal credit committees.
  • Conduct financial modelling, cash flow analysis, and scenario testing on hotel assets and operators, including sensitivity to operational KPIs like RevPAR, ADR, and occupancy rates.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify emerging risks, and take timely action to mitigate exposures.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Real Estate/Project Finance teams, and external stakeholders to structure deals in line with the bank’s risk appetite.
  • Track sector developments and macroeconomic trends impacting hotel markets across key European geographies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and ESG frameworks.
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to internal training on hospitality credit risk.

Key Requirements

  • Experience
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in credit analysis or risk management, ideally within a corporate or investment bank.
    • Proven track record in analysing and structuring hotel sector transactions across Europe.
    • Familiarity with a range of hotel business models including owner-operators, branded franchises, management contracts, and REIT structures.
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong financial and cash flow modelling skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of key hotel industry metrics and operational drivers.
    • Familiarity with legal documentation, covenant structures, and security packages.
    • Proficiency in credit risk rating methodologies and internal capital frameworks (e.g. IRB, Basel IV).
  • Education & Qualifications
    • Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
    • Professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, ACA, CAIA) are an advantage.
