My client, a highly regarded City-based Bank, is seeking an experienced Credit Risk professional to join their growing team. The Bank offers an excellent working culture, a collegiate and supportive environment, and genuine long-term career development opportunities.
The Role
You will be responsible for the assessment, analysis, and monitoring of credit risk across a diversified corporate banking portfolio - Oil and Gas, Commodity Traders and CRE. The role involves close collaboration with relationship managers, front-office teams, and senior risk professionals to ensure the bank’s lending decisions are sound, compliant, and commercially focused.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed credit analysis and risk assessments on new and existing corporate lending proposals.
- Prepare and present credit applications and recommendations to the relevant approval committees.
- Maintain oversight of assigned credit portfolios, identifying early warning signals and managing exposure proactively.
- Liaise with front-office teams to structure appropriate credit facilities aligned with the bank’s risk appetite.
- Monitor sector trends and maintain a strong understanding of market developments affecting clients and counterparties.
- Support broader risk management projects, including policy reviews and system/process enhancements.
The Ideal Candidate
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant Credit Risk experience within the corporate banking sector.
- Generalist corporate sector exposure is essential, with experience in commodities and/or energy sectors viewed as a strong advantage.
- Proven experience in UK-based large corporate lending and familiarity with syndicated or bilateral loan structures.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial statements and identify key credit drivers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and clients.
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with a genuine interest in contributing to a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
