Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with learning disabilities? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our new Transitional Service in Clackmannanshire! Our new Transitional Service is dedicated to supporting young people with learning disabilities who also experience neurodiversity, as they navigate the journey to greater independence. We provide a nurturing environment where they can develop essential life skills, build confidence, and achieve their personal goals.
The Transitional Service is an extension of our Visiting Service in Stirling which provides support to adults and young people living with a variety of challenges in their own home. This includes Mental Ill-health, Learning Disability, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Sight Loss and more. We believe in a person-centered approach, recognising that each person we support has unique needs and goals. Our support is flexibility and varied, ensuring that each person receives the right support at the right time.
Understanding the role
In addition to the ability to demonstrate patience and creativity in understanding and responding to individual communication styles, this role also involves different aspects of supporting people including:
- Social Support: to ensure people have a valued role in their community
- Medication Support: to keep people safe with their prescribed medication
- Personal Care: to assist people to maintain their wellbeing, which would include assistance with bathing, dressing, incontinence care, peg feeding, stoma care, and arranging visits with the dentist/doctor
- Communication: To effectively communicate with young people who have non-traditional communication needs. Utilise various communication methods, including visual aids, sign language, and assistive technology.
- Inclusivity: To foster an inclusive environment where all forms of communication are respected and valued.
