Carr Gomm is a leading social care and community development charity supporting people across Scotland to live their best lives. In Argyll & Bute, our Housing Support Services help people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness secure housing or maintain their tenancy.
About the Role
As a Support Practitioner (Housing Support), you will work with individuals facing homelessness, tenancy‑related difficulties and other housing challenges. Your duties include but are not limited to:
- Regularly review and update support plans to stay relevant and outcome focused
- Use problem‑solving and creativity to enhance choices and social connections
- Build strong professional relationships with families, friends and agencies
- Advocate for people and connect them to community resources
- Ensure informed decision‑making through human‑rights‑based processes
- Maintain accurate records, including risk assessments and reports
- Provide practical support for tenancy management and independent living
- Manage time effectively with a flexible, adaptable approach
- Support people to find and maintain suitable accommodation
- Assist with managing bills, budgeting and dealing with debt
- Help make the most of income and benefits
- Build skills and confidence for work or volunteering
- Signpost people to other services and community opportunities
- Support social connections, hobbies and leisure activities
Qualifications
- Compassionate, reliable and community‑mindful
- Full training provided; support to achieve an SVQ in Health and Social Care while working
- Full driving licence preferred; not essential
- Flexible to work a variety of shift patterns, including days, evenings and weekends
