Our Finance team aims to provide a best-in-class service to our clients and colleagues regarding the financial aspects of our business. Our specialisms include client billing, credit control, supplier invoice processing and payment. We also support with the strategic management of the firm, protecting our financial interests and ensuring we’re responsive to the changing needs of the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You will provide a first-class billing service in a busy environment.
  • As an essential member of the billing team, you will work closely with other team members and fee earners.
  • The team processes a high volume of invoices (approximately 4000 per month), while also dealing with fee earner and client queries.
  • The majority of these tasks are deadline driven, therefore it is important to be able to work under pressure.
  • There will be times when the billing team need to work flexibly to carry-out time sensitive tasks during busy periods.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of monthly bills and credit notes from WIP (including monthly fees, litigation, event and national validation billing and consolidated billing) using the firm’s Finance system.
  • Process time and disbursements write offs and transfers.
  • Following fee earner billing instructions.
  • Manage client specific billing arrangements.
  • Dealing with client queries in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with Partners, Fee earners and Secretaries to resolve client queries.
  • Handle internal billing queries professionally and diligently.
  • Managing the shared Invoices inbox.
  • Creation of billing reports and analysis.
  • Handling daily administration tasks involving sending invoices and updating client details.
  • Providing cover for and assistance to other members of the billing team as required.
  • Working closely with other members in Finance on ad-hoc tasks.
  • Keeping billing processes up to date.
  • Any other administrative or general tasks within the finance department as required.

Skills And Experience We’re Looking For

  • Recent relevant experience within a similar role, gained within a law firm or another professional services firm.
  • Strong understanding of billing processes.
  • Strong client service skills to ensure an effective and professional service delivery to clients.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong and flexible team player, and able to take direction from senior members of the team.
  • Show flexibility during busy periods, especially at month end.
  • Methodical in approach to work.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Numerate / confident with numbers.
  • A good understanding of the Microsoft suite, legal systems and processes.
  • Ebilling experience desirable but not essential.

Full training will be provided.
