The Programme
Carpmaels & Ransford are hosting a Black Heritage Student Insight Programme for STEM students from all year groups – ranging from first years to those undertaking further study, including PhDs.
You will hear from a variety of people at different stages of their career journeys, receive helpful hints and tips for joining the profession and participate in practical activities which offer a taster of the day‑to‑day role. This offers an invaluable opportunity to explore the profession and discover more about life at the firm. The agenda for the day will involve:
- 13:00 – Student Arrival
- 13:20 – Welcome and overview of event
- 13:30 – Patents – what are they and why do we have them?
- 14:00 – Panel discussion and Q&A
- 14:45 – Break
- 16:40 – Recruitment Insights
- 17:10 – Closing remarks and networking
- 19:00 – Finish

Who can attend
- The event is open to black heritage STEM students from relevant technical disciplines.
- Students should be studying towards, or have already attained, a minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree.
- Students should have achieved a minimum of ABB at A‑level with 2 STEM subjects.
- The firm welcomes interest from individuals in their first year of undergraduate study and beyond.
Application Process
- Stage 1: Submit your up‑to‑date CV, including your achieved or predicted undergraduate grade, as well as the A‑level subjects you studied and the grades you received.
- Stage 2: Be invited to write a paragraph on why you would like to attend the Black Heritage Insight Event.
- Stage 3: If successful, you will receive an email inviting you to the Insight Event.
