Carpet Roles UK are delighted to be assisting their clients, a Commercial / New Build Flooring Contractor based near Colchester, North Essex in their search for additional staffing to assist them with their bulging order books through 2024. In this instance they are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to build a key role within a well established operation with expansion plans in 2026.

With a 60/40 Commercial / New Build mix of clients you will be capable of running both types of work though by its nature and volume, the New Build side of the workload will likely be where a lot of your time will be spent. Based from offices near Colchester in Essex our clients are seeking to build upon their successful team and to win more work moving forward into 2026, you will play a key role in this plan.

Job Description:

  • You will work closely and report to the Managing/Senior Quantity Surveyor overseeing the Commercial Costings and Success of the operation in a senior managerial capacity.
  • Measurement of projects.
  • Preparing monthly interim valuations.
  • Ordering materials and managing cost budgets.
  • Dealing with contract documents.
  • Preparing payment claims and claims for additional costs/variations.
  • Managing payments for sub-contractors.
  • Co-ordinate & liaise closely with the site team to ensure all resources are in place.
  • Responsible for preparing & agreeing final accounts.
  • Assisting other team members where required as and when necessary of what is required within the company to a mutual benefit.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our team in East Anglia. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing costs and ensuring the financial success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage project budgets and forecasts.
  • Conduct cost analysis and provide financial advice to project teams.
  • Oversee procurement processes and manage supplier contracts.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Prepare and submit tender documents and cost estimates.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project progress and quality.
  • Assist in resolving any financial disputes that may arise during the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the Commercial flooring contracting sector.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficient in relevant software and tools (e.g., MS Excel, cost management software).
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary & Benefits
