Job Purpose
To support the management of a caseload of Fast Track/MOJ Road Traffic Accident (RTA) claims, working under supervision and contributing to the progression of cases involving motorbikes, mopeds, push bikes, and e-scooters.
Key Responsibilities
- To assist in managing a caseload of MOJ (Part 8) and Part 7 cases, supporting the delivery of high-quality claims handling with a strong focus on client outcomes. This supporting role involves aiding in litigation processes to help generate fee income and contribute to the overall success of the business.
- Assisting in the assessment of liability and quantum - helping to review medical reports, research and apply relevant case law, draft schedules of special damages, and evaluate appropriate compensation awards. The postholder will support the identification of cases where litigation is tactically advantageous and assist in progressing those cases accordingly.
- A practical yet commercial approach to settlements is essential, including supporting client advice on litigation and cost risks. The role also involves contributing to performance targets (e.g., profit costs, case issuance, and settlements) while maintaining the firm's integrity.
- Effective liaison with sources, medical agencies, experts, third-party insurers, and other stakeholders is expected to ensure cases progress efficiently. Attendance at court hearings may be required to support client representation, or where appropriate, assist in instructing Barristers in line with internal policies to provide formal advice on quantum and liability.
- Additional tasks may be assigned as deemed relevant and reasonable by the business.
Experience and Knowledge
- Must be a biker - either through personal experience owning and/or riding a motorbike, or through professional experience handling bike-related claims.
- This role is suitable for a non-qualified legal advisor or paralegal with experience in RTA claims handling. While formal legal qualifications (e.g., CILEX) are beneficial, they are not essential.
- Solid working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), relevant legislation, and applicable case law.
- Proficient in using case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Committed to delivering high-quality service to both clients and the firm.
- Capable of compiling and analysing data to inform decision-making.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to identify opportunities to optimise case outcomes for both the client and the business.
