The Metallurgical Lab Technician will:
- Prepare samples for analysis/examination and carry out a limited range of basic metallurgical services under direct supervision.
- Perform mechanical and magnetic tests on standard equipment, such as hardness testing, tension, tensile, resistivity etc.
- Perform metallographic tests using etchants, polishing equipment, and standard metallographic equipment.
- Collect and record test data obtained during the evaluation.
- This position can be located in any of the following areas: Mechanical Testing, Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetic Testing or Heat Treating.
- Perform other assignments and special projects as needed.
Requirements for the Met Lab Technician:
- Availability for 3rd shift/overnight shift required, as well as initial training on 1st shift/day shift.
- Experience with lathe, mill, and CNC preferred.
- High school diploma required.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Entry level experience with 0-1 years of relevant experience.
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
- Ability to conduct entry level activities and operate basic metallurgical/lab equipment.
- Willingness to work in a fast paced, production-oriented environment with frequently changing priorities.
- Ability to work in a production-oriented environment.
- Ability to work with direct supervision.
- Ability to manage one's own time to meet deadlines through guidance of others within a specific time frame.
