Caron Scientific is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our UK Engineering Team supporting the design, development, and delivery of controlled environment equipment for the life sciences industry.
This role is focused on electrical systems design for engineered products and equipment while also supporting projects through manufacturing, testing, and final execution phases. We are looking for someone who enjoys both technical design work and hands-on collaboration within an engineering and manufacturing environment. The role operates in a hybrid capacity, offering flexibility for remote design and engineering activities. Onsite presence in Waterlooville is primarily needed during equipment build phases, which occur periodically based on project schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Design electrical systems and hardware configurations for engineered products and equipment
- Develop wiring designs, load analysis, electrical safety features, and component selection
- Utilize SolidWorks Electrical and SolidWorks 3D for electrical and product design integration
- Modify and maintain embedded software developed in MPLAB
- Program and support PCB controls and Nextion TFT interfaces
- Create and maintain BOMs within ERP system
- Support engineering documentation, ECR activities, and technical manuals
- Support projects through manufacturing, testing, troubleshooting, and FAT activities
- Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Sales, Service, and Quality teams
- Provide technical support for manufacturing and customer-related electrical issues
- Strong experience in electrical design engineering for products, equipment, machinery, automation systems, or engineered solutions
- Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks Electrical and SolidWorks 3D is required
- Experience with industrial controls, automation systems, embedded controls, and PCB programming
- Experience supporting products through manufacturing, testing, or production environments is highly desirable
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Hands-on mindset with the ability to support onsite builds and troubleshooting activities
