Job Description

Caron Group is a family of care homes located across Mid and South Wales.

Our ethos is to provide high-quality care while ensuring that the privacy, dignity, and choice for our residents remain at the heart of everything we do.

With over 24 years of experience in the care sector, we specialise in residential, nursing, and dementia care for older people.

We are now entering an exciting phase of growth and are seeking dedicated, passionate individuals to join us on this journey and help us continue delivering exceptional care.

About The Role

We are seeking a

Data Platform Lead to join our Technology & Development team at our Uxbridge Support office. This is a platform ownership role, not a ticket-delivery role.

As Data Platform Lead, you will build based on an architectural foundation β€” a medallion-architecture Azure data platform architecture β€” and take full ownership of its development, delivery, and evolution.

You will build the pipelines, deliver the dashboards, establish the resident golden record, and ultimately create the data infrastructure that powers clinical insight across 18 care homes.

You will work at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and care quality β€” translating clinical audit data into meaningful, actionable insight for Home Managers, the Group Executive, and our regulatory inspection preparation.

This is a rare opportunity in the care sector β€” a technically greenfield build with a clear architecture, a supportive director with hands-on data capability, and a genuine organisational commitment to becoming data-led.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Ownership
  • Take ownership of the Caron Group Azure Data Platform, designed on a medallion architecture using Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Power BI.
  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines from source systems β€” including MS Forms clinical audit submissions, and future integrations with Nourish Healthcare and Med-ecare β€” into the bronze, silver, and gold layers of the data warehouse.
  • Ensure platform reliability, performance, security, and cost management across the Azure environment.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and data dictionaries that support long-term platform sustainability.
  • Data Engineering & Integration
  • Complete the digitisation and ingestion of all six core clinical audits β€” Care Plan, Medication, Infection Control, Weight, Wound, and Repositioning β€” building structured pipelines for each.
  • Design and implement the resident golden record as the master data management centrepiece of the platform, enabling a single, accurate view of each resident across systems.
  • Lead the technical integration of Nourish Healthcare data into the warehouse, working closely with the Head of Digital Care & AI on data requirements and governance.
  • Analytics & Insights Delivery
  • Build and maintain five core Power BI dashboard views: Group Executive, Home Manager, Resident Quality, Audit Action Tracker, and Inspection Readiness.
  • Work with the Head of Digital Care & AI and Head of Clinical to understand insight requirements and translate them into robust, usable reporting.
  • Ensure dashboards support CIW inspection readiness, with audit trails and data defensibility built into the reporting layer.
  • Data Governance & Standards
  • Establish and maintain data governance standards across the platform, including data classification, access control, and retention policies aligned to UK GDPR.
  • Define and manage role-based access to Power BI reports, ensuring the right people see the right data at the right level.
  • Work with the IT function to ensure Azure infrastructure aligns with Caron Group's broader security posture and Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Team & Stakeholder
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Digital Care & AI as a peer β€” translating care data requirements into platform architecture decisions.
  • Work with the Head of IT Support on infrastructure dependencies, particularly Azure connectivity and network resilience across homes.
  • Present platform progress, data quality metrics, and analytical findings to the Technology & Development Director and, where relevant, to senior stakeholders.
  • In Phase 2, line-manage the Data & Insights Analyst, supporting their development and ensuring quality of analytical output.

Essential Skills

  • SQL and database design and experience with data transformation at scale
  • Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database and Power BI
  • Data architecture β€” ability to work independently and make sound architectural decisions without requiring day-to-day direction.
  • Data quality engineering β€” experience building medallion-architecture (bronze/silver/gold) data pipelines at production standard.
  • Experience building medallion-architecture (bronze/silver/gold) data pipelines at production standard.
  • Business analysis β€” experience translating business requirements , particularly from non-technical stakeholders, into data platform design
  • Experience translating business requirements β€” particularly from non-technical stakeholders β€” into data platform design.
  • Master data management β€” demonstrable experience with data modelling, master data management, and data quality frameworks.

Desirable Skills

  • Data presentation
  • experience with Power BI report design at a level that serves both operational and executive audiences.
  • Microsoft tools - familiarity with Microsoft Forms as a data collection tool and its integration into Azure pipelines.
  • Health / Social Care sector experience and / or another regulated sector where data governance and audit defensibility are critical.
  • UK data regulations - understanding of UK GDPR obligations in the context of health and care data.
  • Welsh language - verbal and or written Welsh language skills (at any level)

Package

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Hybrid working - one day working from home (post probation, terms apply)
  • Auto-enrolment Pension Scheme
  • Bluelight Discount Card - eligibility to apply
  • Training towards your professional development
  • Direct access to and support from a Technology & Development Director with hands-on Azure and Power BI capability.
  • Career Progression - this role evolves into a people management position as the Data & Insights Analyst joins the team.
