We are seeking a Wellbeing / Activities Support (Maternity Cover) to join our family of Care Homes. As a Wellbeing Support at Caron Group, you will enable the vulnerable people in our care to achieve wellbeing outcomes that are meaningful to them. You will support the Wellbeing Lead in achieving an overall feeling of wellbeing throughout the Home by lifting the spirits of the people who reside and work there and those who visit the Home. The individuals who we care for will rely on you to help stimulate their minds and bodies through a carefully planned programme of events, group and one-to-one sessions, community participation and by encouraging staff interaction with residents to ensure they receive a fulfilling experience. You will be a caring and compassionate individual, with infectious enthusiasm and energy; providing opportunities for all of our residents to participate in and enjoy the available activities programme. Every one of our residents is supported with respect, dignity and choice, in a safe and well-equipped environment which we hope they will regard as their home. We provide the highest levels of support and ensure that our residents are as happy as possible.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Wellbeing Lead in creating and organising meaningful and engaging activities and a lifestyle programme throughout the home to enrich the lives of the residents we care for.
  • Supporting the Wellbeing Lead with producing and updating an activity planner for the home, working to an agreed activities budget.
  • Supporting the Wellbeing Lead with organising events within the Home i.e. Birthdays; Visiting Schools; Choirs; Coffee Mornings; Themed Days such as Christmas, Remembrance Day, religious events, St. David's Day, St. George's Day etc.
  • Supporting the Wellbeing Lead in developing partnerships in the local community and liaising with third parties to arrange appropriate activities e.g. choirs, fundraising activities and shows.
  • Getting to know residents and their families to identify their individual histories and choices to help staff adopt a person-centred approach (About Me Book) and create tailored activities.
  • Accompanying residents on outings and arranging transport ensuring that all safety standards are met with respect to mobility.
  • Promoting a community spirit within their Home through advertising; sharing information and by also attending residents' meetings/forums on a quarterly basis and representing residents who are unable to attend.
  • Encouraging and promoting good wellbeing practice to staff at the Home.
  • Promoting good communication and language with individuals.
  • Providing support to those who are at the end of their journey to enable them to be as calm and relaxed as humanly possible.

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults), Wales and Northern Ireland.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience and passion for care of the elderly.
  • Ability to relate to and care for older people in a sensitive, dignified and respectful manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of the needs of the older person.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar activities/lifestyle role within a care facility.
  • An understanding of and adherence to Caron Group's ethos.

Desirable:

  • Level 2 Award in Supporting Activity Provision in Social Care.
  • Level 3 Certificate in Activity Provision in Social Care.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) Wales and Northern Ireland.
