Carolina Poly, Inc. located in Chester, SC, is currently seeking a Safety and Environmental Specialist to join our team. Carolina Poly produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags and construction films.
- Coach employees on proper work methods and practices.
- Conduct facility safety audits and work with management team to ensure completion of corrective actions.
- Perform regular safety walks with the management team.
- Advise on methods to minimize safety risks and provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
- Lead the accident investigation process.
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
- Assist with LOTO reviews.
- Liaise with supervisors to ensure incident reports are complete and accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Attend employee safety talks.
- Collaborate with managers and supervisors to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
- Assist departments with proper waste disposal practices.
- Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machine operation.
Must be available for a 4 on 4 off schedule. One-year experience in the Safety/Environmental field, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Associates degree or equivalent hours in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Business, or other relevant field is required. May be substituted with OSHA Training Institute Certifications such as Safety & Health Fundamentals, Specialist in Safety & Health, or others.
Working knowledge of basic software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Email, etc.). Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in all formats, including verbal, written & presentations. Working knowledge of federal safety (OSHA) regulations and required programs in the manufacturing environment (29 CFR 1910). Ability to accept coaching and guidance and work in a team environment.
