The predicted salary is between 24000 - 30000 £ per year.

An exciting new vacancy has become available as a Food and Beverage Supervisor, working across The Rookery Restaurant and our new bar located in the centre of Carnoustie – Maxi’s. This is a permanent position, working 2,080 hours per annum (an average of 40 hours per week), Monday‑Sunday. In this position, evening and weekend work will be expected.

The Supervisor will take the lead on creating a vibrant and engaging experience for our customers. They will also lead the team, ensuring a high level of service and customer satisfaction is met.

Key duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Pro‑actively manage the day‑to‑day food and beverage operation.
  • Ensure all stock is ordered, liaising with the restaurant manager and food and beverage controller.
  • Lead the team, which includes (but is not limited to): rotas, on‑shift duties, appraisals, 1‑2‑1s, absence management, recruitment, standard operating procedures, maintenance planning, budgets and all other relevant duties to the daily running of shifts.
  • Supervise shifts, supervising the Front of House team with a positive motivational approach.
  • Ensure first‑class quality service in all areas of the department.
  • Ensure daily staff briefings are conducted on your shift.
  • Support the Food and Beverage Servers in handling all positive and negative guest feedback.
  • Consider prevention, recovery and investigation of any customer complaints.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs wherever possible and promote hospitality within the business, enhancing guest satisfaction.
  • Carry out quality training and coaching with Food and Beverage Servers in a systematic and professional manner.
  • Ensure the team are correctly uniformed in line with company standards and understand the importance of personal hygiene.
  • Ensure the team are punctual, polite, courteous and helpful to guests and colleagues at all times.
  • Greet customers, make suggestions, present and answer questions on the menu.
  • Take orders through the POS system.
  • Prepare the bills for beverages and meals ordered and then balance daily transactions.
  • Take reservations and booking enquiries.
  • Use sales techniques to retain customers and attract more.
  • Ensure daily and weekly cleaning is being carried out.
  • Apply safety regulations and health regulations relating to cleanliness.
  • Comply with equipment usage guidelines.
  • Comply with maintenance guidelines for the restaurant.
  • Suggest ideas for new products, equipment and ways of working that could improve our offering.
  • Be responsible for processing the tills each evening.
  • Assist with the locking and alarming of Maxi’s at the end of the evening, ensuring the building is secured at all times.
  • Live the company values and promote brand standards as an ambassador.
  • All other tasks as required by the Restaurant Manager and Rookery Management Team.

Essential Skills and Behaviours:

  • Proven operational knowledge, skills and experience of serving in a first‑class restaurant & bar operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients and employees at all levels.
  • Achieve set standards and operate to performance criteria; for example, health and safety, hygiene.
  • Ability to actively support and coach the Front of House team.
  • Ability to actively drive sales through incentives, training & development for front of house Servers.
  • Ability to recall and explain food and drink specials.
  • Good memory to help remember various kinds of orders, including lengthy and complicated orders.
  • Good stamina and ability to stand for long hours while serving customers.
  • Being a team player is essential.
  • A positive ‘can‑do’ attitude and a proven ability to provide excellent customer service.
