Due to our company expanding and our current fleet growing, we are preparing by recruiting for Environmental Officers for 2026 and beyond.
At P&O Cruises and Cunard, we are all committed to environmental compliance and we are looking for driven shipboard Environmental Officers to help us continue this. You will play an important role in our commitment to environmental legislation, protective and preventative measures and the education of our people. This is an exciting opportunity that allows you to work with a passionate community of people while visiting different places, explore new worlds and gain experiences that stay with you for a lifetime.
With safety and compliance at the heart of what we do, you will lead by example ensuring all departments are aware of their environmental responsibilities, effectively dealing with areas of concern and carefully managing the environmental impacts of all tasks under your leadership.
You’ll proactively check, monitor and support shipboard operations to prevent or detect non-compliance. You will also train and support shipboard employees to maintain environmental compliance in accordance with environmental legislation and company policies and procedures, and support the company’s ISO14001 and sustainability programs.
We are looking for people who have the following background or qualification criteria:
- Served as a Marine Engineering Officer with a minimum rank of 2nd Engineer or higher.
- Served as a Deck Officer with a minimum rank of 2nd Officer or higher.
- Former Navy or Coast Guard engineer who has achieved Chief Petty Officer Rank or higher.
- Shoreside Engineers with experience operating and/or maintaining pollution prevention systems like those found on cruise ships with at least three (3) years of relevant experience and an engineering degree or higher.
- Have an environmental science related degree with at least three (3) years of relevant industry experience.
You will have management experience and good leadership skills with a proactive and positive approach to protecting the environment. Experience of environmental compliance, risk assessments, environmental audits, report writing as well as having a marine technical or engineering background will help you to be a success in this role. Initiative is important to this role as you will need to quickly understand what needs to be done and anticipate what’s needed as you work with integrity and strive for high standards.
