Carnival UK (P&O Cruises & Cunard) are recruiting for skilled & experienced “reading” Trombonists to work in our House Orchestras as part of our onboard team. Our Trombonists deliver a varied entertainment line-up whilst sailing around the world! Many of today’s top UK musicians started with a career at sea. Could you be next?
About the role: As Trombonist with Carnival UK you will deliver high-end live shows as directed by our onboard Musical Director. You will be required to attend rehearsals and perform music before live audiences, sight-read musical parts and play the Trombone to a high standard. Exceptional delivery of all shows is ensured by fully rehearsing and maintaining high standards of music. You will follow the daily musical plan for shows as required, including group and solo performances. This role has excellent opportunity to step-up / cover the Musical Director as/when required.
Skills/ Experience Required: You must be an excellent sight-reader, able to improvise, have an extensive knowledge of musical styles and be able to demonstrate relevant professional experience. It would also be an advantage to be familiar with the use of digital sheet music technology and software. We are seeking a Trombonist with a Musical Performance degree (equivalent) or relevant industry experience. Ideally a Minimum Grade 8 Royal College of Music certification or equivalent is required.
