We are seeking a Network Access Control (NAC) Engineer to join our Technology department, bringing deep specialist expertise in the design, delivery, and operation of enterprise-scale NAC solutions across complex, geographically distributed environments. This role is critical to the successful delivery of a major NAC rollout across ship fleet and shore-based locations, with an ambitious timeline to complete by the end of the year. We are looking for a true Subject Matter Expert who can hit the ground running, provide technical leadership, and mentor internal engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority and SME for Network Access Control (NAC) across ship and shore environments.
- Lead the design, deployment, and operationalisation of large-scale NAC solutions using Cisco ISE and/or Aruba ClearPass.
- Provide hands-on leadership across configuration, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Act as the primary escalation point for NAC-related incidents and complex troubleshooting.
- Deliver and support NAC services across hybrid ship/shore infrastructure.
- Perform configuration, optimisation, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of NAC platforms.
- Work closely with vendors, third-party suppliers, and connectivity partners to ensure successful delivery.
- Review existing NAC environments to identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and implement new network and security-aligned technical solutions.
- Contribute to broader Networking & Communications areas including LAN, wireless, and security systems.
- Maintain regular communication with stakeholders during incidents, problem management, and project delivery.
- Lead, guide, and mentor network engineers to uplift NAC capability and operational maturity.
Role Details
This role is positioned as a CUK09 level within our organisation and is available on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 6 months. We offer hybrid work including up to two days from home. Travel across our fleet will be required.
What You’ll Bring
Core (Essential):
- Strong experience delivering enterprise NAC solutions.
- Deep knowledge of Cisco ISE and/or Aruba ClearPass.
- 802.1X, MAB, RADIUS, EAP, certificate-based authentication.
- Guest/BYOD workflows, posture assessment.
- Integration with wired/wireless networks, firewalls, segmentation, and identity platforms.
Desirable:
- Wireless (Aruba/Cisco, WPA2/3 Enterprise).
- LAN/WAN (Cisco switching/routing).
- Security platforms (e.g., Palo Alto).
- Network automation / NetDevOps.
Certifications (Optional):
- CCNA/CCNP, Aruba ACA/ACSA/ACP, ISE/ClearPass certs, PCNSA.
