In our pursuit of excellence within our technology department here at Carnival UK, we're seeking individuals who bring a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise to our newly created Data Architect role. At Carnival UK, we have a bold vision for how data will unlock commercial success and power the future of unforgettable holiday happiness — and we're looking for a Data Architect to turn that vision into reality. You'll lay the foundations that our AI, analytics and reporting ambitions will be built on, acting as the bridge between specialist data teams and Architecture to shape the data architecture, standards and roadmap at a genuinely early and exciting point in the journey. If you want your work to be foundational rather than incremental — and to have real influence over how an organisation harnesses its data — this is the role where you can make that mark.
This pivotal role will involve:
- Working with Enterprise Architects as a trusted Data expert to set data architecture direction for Carnival UK - defining the standards, models and principles for how data is structured, integrated and managed across the estate, and maintaining a clear, practical view of the target data landscape and the steps to reach it.
- Ensuring the practical governance of our Enterprise Data Model, guiding alignment between Conceptual, Logical (enterprise canonical) and appropriate physical data models.
- Ensuring consistent and secure data design by aligning solution and infrastructure designs, reviewing design proposals, embedding repeatable patterns, and engineering integrations for resilience and security.
- Enabling data-driven value across brands and corporate functions by working with product, analytics and engineering colleagues to translate business questions into architectures that can answer them.
- Managing data risk and compliance by embedding controls for data quality, privacy and regulatory requirements into designs, ensuring sensitive guest and colleague data is handled in line with policy and legislation.
- Driving data simplification and modernisation, reducing legacy complexity, retiring duplication and adopting modern, cloud-ready patterns that lower the cost and risk of data ownership.
Position Requirements
Our ideal candidates are those who possess not only the technical skills required for the role but also a passion for technology and a keen eye for detail.
- A proven data architect who has performed the role before at enterprise scale, setting architectural direction and turning a data strategy into practical foundations and a forward roadmap — driving execution, not just producing documentation.
- Proficiency across all elements of the DAMA DMBOK wheel.
- The architectural judgement to define standards, principles and canonical models that shape how data is structured, integrated and managed across a complex enterprise landscape, underpinned by strong conceptual, logical and physical modelling.
- A clear view of how modern data platforms are designed and built — data warehouses and lakes from the ground up, integration and the move to event-driven architecture, ready to support analytics and AI (Snowflake an advantage).
- A strategic approach to data governance, quality and compliance, embedding trust and security by design, ideally gained in an organisation on a technology transformation or modernisation journey.
About You
You are someone who thrives in a collaborative environment yet can work with a high degree of accuracy and accountability. Your qualifications in technology are just the start; we're looking for a team member who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to our collective success.
- Strong collaboration skills, essential for bridging the gap between Finance (where data currently sits) and the wider architecture and project community.
- Tenacity and strength of conviction — able to come at a problem, solve it in line with the strategy, and ensure that is what gets executed rather than drifting off course.
Why Join Us?
Positioned within our internal structure from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President), this role is classified as a CUK07, offered as a full-time position, on a permanent basis, with hybrid working including up to two days from home. We offer a dynamic and inclusive workplace where your work makes a real impact. Beyond salaries and benefits, here's what we offer:
- Employee Discounted Cruising plus Friends and Family offers.
- Annual bonus.
