The Site Manager Scotland oversees the planning, coordination, and daily operations of highway construction sites, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role will oversee the supervisors and site management of drainage survey teams, trenchless remediation, Filter Drain Recycling (FDR), and general civils works on the highways Strategic Road Network (SRN). The Site Manager will be required to follow instructions from the Contract Managers and comply with site safety rules and our Health and Safety policies and standards.

Support the Operations and Contract Managers with the Business Plan and Strategy that supports the objectives of Carnell, to improve market penetration in Scotland, grow the scale of the business and ultimately improve profitability. You will work collaboratively with the client supporting their needs and have access to Carnell Asset Management Tools, Subject Matter Experts, and our specialist supply chain. You will provide the Contract Manager with current contract issues, delivery needs, and any potential work winning opportunities.

The Site Manager role will cover projects in Scotland and involve working from home, managing sites on days or nights as needed by the business. Carnell is a national business and there will be a necessity to support contracts in the North of England as and when required.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Previous experience in highways contract management within the construction industry
  • A good understanding of highways drainage construction and the current specifications (CDM 2015, MCHW, DMRB, CS 551, CD 535)
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Excel & Word
  • Good understanding of relevant health & safety legislation
  • Good understanding of business strategy
  • UK Driving License required
