As Management Accountant, your responsibilities will include producing month-end management accounts, performing and reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, improving procedures and controls, and handling ad-hoc projects.

  • Manage assistant management accountant to ensure month-end deadlines are met.
  • Ensure all 1-2-1s and appraisals for the team are completed.
  • Assist the financial controller in preparing statutory accounts, corporation tax computations and budgets.
  • Prepare and post all month-end journals and invoices by required deadlines.
  • Review fixed asset register and ensure following accounting standards for capitalisation.
  • Review stock listing and perform stock counts.
  • Prepare and send department-head month-end spend reports (e.g., HR, hotel, plant).
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, flag risks to the financial controller.
  • Assist with interim and year-end audit queries.

Qualifications:

  • Organised, reliable and able to use own initiative.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office.
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing a team.
  • Up-to-date with regulation regarding technical accounting, corporation tax, etc.
  • Fully qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA.

As a Site Manager you will oversee the day-to-day operations, planning and delivery of highways projects across Scotland and, when required, support operations in Northern England.

  • Oversee all aspects of on-site delivery – commercial, programme, resources, safety, quality and environmental performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all SHEQ requirements and site rules.
  • Coordinate shift start-ups, close-downs and changeovers.
  • Support the production of Construction Phase Plans, Project Management Plans and other documentation.
  • Lead and develop supervisors and operatives.
  • Deliver pre-start briefings, toolbox talks and training; conduct appraisals and support skills development.
  • Act as the key point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
  • Attend site visits to support project development and asset assessment.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Ensure work is delivered Right First Time and meets specifications.
  • Manage project KPIs and deadlines; make quality adjustments and reject work outside specification.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Manage working hours and authorise exceedances.
  • Oversee plant, vehicles, equipment and operational paperwork.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in highways contract management.
  • Strong understanding of drainage construction and relevant standards (CDM 2015, MCHW, DMRB, CS 551, CD 535).
  • Experience managing teams on high-speed roads.
  • Strong grasp of health & safety legislation.
  • Good commercial and business strategy awareness.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Degree or equivalent (HND/HNC) in construction or project management.
  • SMSTS.
  • Full UK driving licence.
