HR Generalist – 13–14 Month FTC – Alternative Investments – Β£60–65k My client is an established international alternative investment firm looking for an HR Generalist to join its London-based HR team on a 13–14 month maternity cover contract.

The business has an international presence and offers a professional, collaborative working environment.

Reporting to the Head of HR, this is a broad and hands-on role supporting employees and managers across the business.

The successful candidate will be involved in the full range of day-to-day HR operations, including employee lifecycle activity, HR systems, documentation, payroll support and ongoing process improvement.

This is a fast-paced role with standard working hours of 9am–6pm and 5 days working in the office.

For the perfect candidate 4 in the office, 1 at home might be possible.

The Role Manage key stages of the employee journey, from new joiner onboarding and inductions through to leavers and exit interviews.

Provide an initial point of contact for employees and managers on a wide range of routine HR matters.

Oversee day-to-day HR administration, ensuring queries are resolved promptly or referred to the appropriate member of the team.

Keep employee information accurate and up to date within the HR system, and produce both scheduled and ad hoc people reports.

Draft contracts, offer documentation and other standard or tailored HR correspondence.

Process changes to terms and conditions, including salary reviews, job title changes, transfers and contractual amendments.

Support the administration of maternity, paternity and other statutory or company leave arrangements.

Coordinate visa and immigration matters, working with employees and external immigration advisers as required.

Check monthly UK payroll information and assist with elements of the annual compensation process.

Support recruitment activity for administrative and temporary positions when needed.

Contribute ideas for improving HR processes, systems and general ways of working.

The Candidate This is an Associate-level position and requires a minimum of four years' experience in HR Operations or a broad HR Generalist role.

Senior Managers and HR Business Partners may find this role too administrative.

Candidates must come from a comparable investment or financial services environment, such as a hedge fund, private markets firm, asset manager or investment management business.

Previous experience supporting employees across more than one international office or jurisdiction.

A solid understanding of core employee lifecycle processes and the practical administration that sits behind them.

Confident using HR information systems, with experience maintaining employee data and producing HR reports.

CIPD Level 5 qualification or, alternatively, a strong academic background with a 2:1 degree or above.

Excellent attention to detail, organisation and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, together with the judgement and discretion needed when handling confidential matters.

Proactive, flexible and comfortable balancing several priorities in a busy, fast-moving environment.

A genuine interest in improving processes, taking ownership and contributing positively as part of a close-knit HR team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for recruitment efforts, new hire orientation and onboarding, employee termination, payroll and benefits, company policy and procedure adherence.

In addition, you will build strong relationships with our company's managers in order to help them with their human resource needs.
