We are working with a large UK pension fund looking to hire an experienced Front Office Business Analyst to join a significant programme focused on enhancing its portfolio management capabilities. This is a genuinely front-office-facing role, working closely with Portfolio Managers, Portfolio Implementation, Trading and Operations. The role will focus on improving how investment teams use Charles River (CRIMS) to manage portfolios, understand exposures and support investment decision-making.

The successful candidate will work closely with investment teams to understand how portfolios are managed and translate their requirements into effective systems, data and processes. The role will have a particular focus on portfolio and exposure management, including:

  • Designing and improving front-office portfolio and exposure views
  • Developing portfolio look-through capabilities
  • Incorporating risk measures including duration, beta and delta
  • Supporting tactical and strategic asset allocation
  • Improving cash and liquidity management processes and views
  • Configuring CRIMS portfolio manager views, blotters and profiles
  • Enhancing portfolio monitoring, modelling and order-generation workflows
  • Troubleshooting live portfolio management and trading issues

The role will also have a strong data component. You will work with investment teams to understand their requirements at both a process and data level, including:

  • Market and reference data
  • IBOR and security master data
  • Trade processing and downstream data flows
  • Pricing and analytics
  • SQL-based data extraction and analysis.

We are looking for someone who combines strong investment knowledge with genuine systems and data capability. Ideally you will have:

  • 3–5+ years' hands-on Charles River (CRIMS) experience, although experience with another leading Portfolio Management System will also be considered
  • Strong understanding of portfolio construction, rebalancing and investment workflows
  • Good multi-asset knowledge across Equities, Fixed Income, FX and Derivatives
  • Understanding of portfolio exposures and risk measures
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar reporting tools would be helpful
  • Exposure to currency hedging and overlay strategies would also be useful.

We are looking for someone bright, pragmatic and collaborative who is comfortable working directly with Portfolio Managers whilst equally happy getting into the detail with technology and data teams. You should be naturally inquisitive, willing to challenge existing processes and, importantly, someone who takes ownership of problems rather than simply identifying them. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of investments, technology and data, within a sophisticated multi-asset investment environment.
