You will play a key role in idea generation, research, and analysis, supporting the team’s discretionary trading and relative value strategies across energy, metals, and agricultural markets. This is an opportunity for a commercially minded, intellectually curious analyst who thrives in a fast-paced, data-rich environment and wants to contribute directly to P&L impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental and quantitative research across global commodity markets, including supply/demand dynamics, trade flows, inventory trends, and pricing structures.
- Build and maintain detailed models to forecast production, consumption, and inventory balances across key markets (oil, gas, power, metals, agriculture).
- Generate investment ideas that inform directional, relative value, and curve strategies.
- Monitor and interpret macro, geopolitical, and policy developments affecting commodities.
- Work closely with the PM and traders to translate research insights into actionable trades.
- Analyse and track risk factors, correlations, and cross-asset linkages relevant to the portfolio.
- Maintain relationships with industry contacts, research providers, and data sources to enhance information flow.
- Present research findings and investment theses clearly and concisely to the team.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 3–8 years’ experience in commodities research, trading, or analytics, ideally within a hedge fund, investment bank, trading house, or major commodity merchant.
- Deep understanding of fundamental drivers in at least one major commodities vertical — energy, metals, or agriculture.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with expertise in Excel and Python/R/SQL a plus.
- Ability to build and maintain complex models (e.g., supply-demand, cost curves, spread analysis).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills — able to distil complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Intellectual curiosity, humility, and a collaborative mindset — able to thrive in a high-intensity, performance-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
Why Apply
- Direct exposure to a top-performing Commodities PM and highly experienced traders.
- Flat, meritocratic structure — your work directly impacts portfolio decisions.
- Exceptional compensation structure with clear upside for performance.
