Overview
We are seeking a funds lawyer with a strong commercial focus to join our London office and work closely with key players in the funds industry. The role offers superb client exposure, excellent quality legal work and regular interaction with industry stakeholders.
Who are we looking for?
Qualified lawyer with up to 2 years’ PQE in a similar role, either in private practice or in‑house. The candidate should have experience and knowledge of the laws and regulations impacting financial services providers and investment management businesses, including familiarity with UCITS, AIFMD and their evolving regulatory, compliance and governance environment.
Minimum requirements
- Qualified lawyer with up to 2 years’ PQE in a similar role.
- Experience and knowledge of the laws and regulations impacting financial services providers and investment management businesses.
- Familiarity with UCITS, AIFMD and related regulatory, compliance and governance environment, covering a variety of fund product types and asset classes is preferable.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic business and regulatory environment.
- Fluent English (written and spoken) essential; additional language(s) considered an asset.
Role & responsibilities
- Support the business from a legal and regulatory perspective in the United Kingdom.
- Advise and assist on formation, launch, registration and distribution of various fund structures, both UCITS and AIFs.
- Assist with onboarding of new clients, including onboarding to our client’s highly successful ManCo service offering.
- Draft and negotiate various agreements and fund documentation, including Management Company/AIFM and investment management agreements, review of prospectus, constitutional documents (instruments of incorporation/trust deeds) and distribution agreements.
- Assist and support the business generally, including Carne’s teams on all Management Company, AIFM legal and regulatory issues, and present internally on relevant legal and regulatory updates.
- Liaise with external legal advisers and/or client’s counsel.
- Assist with drafting and implementing regulatory documents.
- Handle ad‑hoc projects as required.
