The Role

As Senior Sous Chef, you will act as the second-in-command in our fast paced food production kitchen. You will work directly under the Head of Cooked Food Production, helping to lead a dedicated team of chefs and kitchen porters. • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of production chefs and kitchen porters to maintain a high-performance work culture.

  • Assist the Head Chef with New Product Development (NPD), bringing creative culinary ideas from concept to scaled production.
  • Monitor kitchen efficiency, control food waste, and manage portion control to protect commercial margins.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Purchasing, Food Safety/Technical, and Distribution.
  • Maintain rigorous food safety, allergen control, and hygiene standards in line with internal policies and legal regulations.
  • Step up to lead the department in the absence of the Head of Cooked Food Production.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef within a high-volume, fast-paced food production or manufacturing environment.
  • Passion for working with high-quality, local ingredients and a strong eye for artisanal detail.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing kitchen teams.
  • Good commercial acumen with an understanding of kitchen yields, food costing, and production efficiency.
