We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major nuclear and civils work package as part of a wider nuclear infrastructure programme. The role holds full accountability for safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery within a highly regulated, safety‑critical environment. The Senior Project Manager will manage multi‑disciplinary teams and supply chain partners, ensuring that works are delivered to programme, cost, quality, and nuclear safety requirements, while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Delivery
    • Take full responsibility for the end‑to‑end delivery of assigned nuclear and civils works
    • Lead and coordinate construction, engineering, commercial, planning, and support teams
    • Ensure works are delivered safely, to specification, on time, and within budget
    • Provide visible leadership on site, promoting a strong safety and compliance culture
  • Nuclear Safety, Compliance & Assurance
    • Ensure all project activities comply with nuclear site licence conditions, UK legislation, and client standards
    • Support nuclear safety case requirements and assurance processes
    • Lead engagement with audits, assurance reviews, and regulatory scrutiny at project level
  • Programme, Cost & Controls
    • Manage project budgets, forecasting, and cost control in conjunction with commercial teams
    • Maintain robust project controls, reporting, and governance arrangements
    • Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and opportunities
    • Control change through formal change management and client approval processes
  • Stakeholder & Client Management
    • Act as the primary interface with the client and key stakeholders for the project
    • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
    • Provide clear, accurate progress and performance reporting to senior leadership and the client
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop project teams, promoting high performance and collaboration
    • Support resource planning, recruitment, and succession planning
    • Foster a positive, inclusive, and delivery‑focused team environment

Skills & Experience

  • Essential
    • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering major civils or infrastructure projects
    • Experience working in highly regulated or safety‑critical environments, ideally nuclear or equivalent
    • Strong understanding of construction delivery, project controls, and governance
    • Experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams and complex supply chains
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills
    • Eligible for UK security clearance
  • Desirable
    • Previous experience on nuclear‑licensed sites or nuclear infrastructure programmes
    • Experience delivering projects under NEC or similar contract forms
    • Strong civils or heavy construction background

Qualifications

  • Essential
    • Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, construction, or project management
  • Desirable
    • Chartered status or working towards chartership
    • APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management qualification
    • SMSTS
