Carmichael UK is recruiting an experienced Site Engineer with strong setting out skills and solid utilities experience to support delivery on a major HS2 infrastructure package in Buckinghamshire. This role is ideal for an engineer who is confident working independently on site, managing setting out activities and taking ownership of ITPs and QA documentation on utilities works.
You will play a key role in the delivery of utility diversions and installations, ensuring works are set out accurately and delivered in line with specifications, programme, and HS2 standards. Working closely with site management and subcontractors, you will support day-to-day engineering activities while maintaining high standards across safety, quality, and assurance.
Key Responsibilities- Setting out for utilities works, including drainage, ducting, and service diversions
- Managing and maintaining ITPs, inspections, and QA records
- Producing as-built records and red-line drawings
- Supporting subcontractors with technical guidance and site control
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with design and specifications
- Maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards on site
- Liaising with site management, designers, and other disciplines
- Assisting with permits, temporary works, and coordination activities
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer on utilities or civils packages
- Strong setting out capability using GPS / total station equipment
- Confident running ITPs and managing QA processes
- Experience on major infrastructure or rail projects preferred
- CSCS card essential (SMSTS beneficial)
- Proactive, organised, and able to work with minimal supervision
