CarmichaelUK is looking for an Experienced Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) to join a tier 1 contractor in delivering heavy civil engineering works at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. As the preferred supplier for this high-profile defence infrastructure project, we are seeking a skilled professional to take a leading role in the management of complex temporary works.
The Role
You’ll work within the engineering and design team, responsible for the coordination and safe implementation of all Temporary Works across one of the dockyard’s major ongoing projects. This includes managing the full design lifecycle, ensuring compliance with client and legal standards, and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate Temporary Works between site teams and designers
- Review and manage Temporary Works design briefs and submissions
- Oversee the full lifecycle of Temporary Works from design to decommissioning
- Liaise with multiple design houses
- Ensure site implementation aligns with approved design details
- Conduct site inspections and issue TW permits
- Supervise and support Temporary Works Supervisors
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Support the commercial and regulatory aspects of temporary works delivery
- Mentor and provide practical support to less experienced team members
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (BEng, MEng, BSc, etc.)
- Working towards or holding Chartership with ICE, IStructE, CIOB, or similar
- Experience delivering Temporary Works on major infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, formwork, falsework schemes
- Familiarity with Temporary Works management procedures (BS5975)
- Desirable: Design/engineering management experience and knowledge of structural steel buildings
- Must be eligible for BPSS/SC security clearance (NATO passport holder, UK resident for 3+ years)
