An opportunity exists for a Quantity Surveyor on a Network railframework consisting of bridge replacements, refurbishments and enhancements.

Previous experience on Network Rail projects for tier one/principal contractors would be advantageous.

Candidates residing in the Oxford/Swindon region would be preferred as a continuous site presence for at least 3 days a week is required.

Duties for this opportunity include -

  • Management of subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account.
  • Preparation and agreement of Applications for Payment and Valuations.
  • Cost reporting, forecasting and monthly CVR production.
  • Management of compensation events, variations and change control.
  • Assessment, negotiation and agreement of subcontractor payments.
  • Procurement of subcontract packages and preparation of enquiry documentation.
  • Preparation and management of NEC/Network Rail contract documentation.
  • Production and maintenance of cost plans and budgets.
  • Identification and management of commercial risk and opportunities.
  • Agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Supporting Project Managers and Site Teams with commercial advice.
  • Attendance at site progress meetings and commercial reviews.
  • Measurement and valuation of bridge repair, bridge replacement and civil engineering works.
  • Reviewing and challenging labour, plant and material costs.
  • Managing records to support entitlement and change claims.
  • Liaison with Network Rail representatives, designers, planners and delivery teams.
  • Site visits to locations in Oxford and Swindon to monitor progress and validate commercial positions.
  • Commercial management of railway possessions, access constraints and framework deliverables.
  • Supporting delivery of both renewals and enhancement projects under the framework.

Requirements for this role would include –

  • Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying with RICS
  • Quantity Surveying experience within rail infrastructure projects for a tier one contractor
  • Experience working on Network Rail frameworks, renewals or enhancement schemes.
  • Commercial management of subcontractors from procurement through to final account.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Living within commuting distance of Oxford/Swindon
