Engineering Survey Opportunities – Major Infrastructure Project

Location: Plymouth (Devonport Dockyard)

Contract: Full-time / Long-term opportunities available

Carmichael UK are working with a leading Tier 1 delivery partnership on a major infrastructure redevelopment project in Plymouth. We are currently recruiting for multiple Surveying professionals to support ongoing works on a high-profile site. This is an excellent opportunity to join a large-scale, complex project within a highly regulated environment, working across reinforced concrete, heavy civils, and machine-controlled operations.

Roles Available:

  • Senior Surveyors
  • Engineering Surveyor (Assurance)
  • Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and delivering site surveying activities across multiple work fronts
  • Maintaining survey control networks and ensuring data accuracy across construction operations
  • Carrying out quality assurance surveys including pre-pour, post-pour and as-built verification on RC structures
  • Producing survey reports, drawings and data outputs to support engineering and delivery teams
  • Supporting machine control operations including creating and checking models and validating outputs
  • Coordinating with engineers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure alignment with programme requirements
  • Ensuring all works are delivered in line with QA/QC procedures and QC1 standards

For senior candidates:

  • Assisting in the management of surveying teams and overseeing site survey operations
  • Supporting the implementation of quality control processes and maintaining compliance documentation

Requirements:

  • Proven experience within engineering surveying on civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures and survey assurance processes (QC1 desirable)
  • Experience with survey control, setting out, and as-built verification
  • Exposure to machine control systems, modelling and laser scanning (for relevant roles)
  • Ability to work within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across site teams

Important Information:

This role is based on a secure site within Devonport Dockyard. BPSS security clearance is required (can take several weeks to obtain). Candidates must meet eligibility requirements relating to nationality and UK residency due to site restrictions.
