Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Project Manager/Construction Manager to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering a portfolio of highways improvement schemes in the East Sussex area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven construction professional with a strong background in planning, design coordination, construction delivery, and project handover within the highways sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects throughout the full lifecycle, from planning and design through to construction and final handover.
- Review and coordinate design information, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme requirements.
- Monitor project progress, performance, and quality standards throughout delivery.
- Lead construction activities on site whilst maintaining compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Manage subcontractors and supply chain partners, ensuring performance, programme, and commercial objectives are achieved.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractor design packages from conception through to construction and completion.
- Liaise with clients, designers, stakeholders, and project teams to resolve technical and delivery challenges.
- Drive programme performance and ensure key project milestones are achieved.
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering highways infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of project planning, construction methodologies, and programme delivery.
- Experience managing projects through design, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors and design subcontractors.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, quality, and environmental standards within civil engineering.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant civil engineering or construction-related qualification preferred.
