We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a major civils package on the HS2 project, based in Aylesbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure schemes, delivering key works across highways, earthworks, and associated civil engineering packages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial function of civils packages across the project
  • Administer NEC contracts (NEC3 / NEC4), ensuring compliance with all contractual requirements
  • Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
  • Identify, assess, and manage variations and change control procedures
  • Monitor costs, forecast budgets, and provide accurate commercial reporting
  • Manage and review subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure commercial efficiency on highways and infrastructure works
  • Support risk and opportunity management across the project
  • Maintain robust commercial records and documentation

Requirements

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on civils projects
  • Strong background delivering infrastructure schemes (e.g. highways, rail, or large-scale civils projects such as HS2)
  • Sound understanding of NEC contract forms
  • Experience managing subcontractors and commercial processes on site
  • Excellent cost management, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Relevant qualification (HNC / HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar)

Desirable

  • Previous experience working on HS2 or major infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to highways, drainage and earthworks packages
  • Membership or working towards RICS accreditation
