Long term freelance opportunities inside IR35 exist for Quantity Surveyors on a MOD project in Plymouth. Due to the nature of the project, candidates will be required to undergo a BPSS check which can take up to 8 weeks. Eligible candidates must hold a NATO or MISWG passport and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. This post offers a lodge allowance of £50/day gross.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide commercial input including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team.
  • Help ensure that business targets and KPI’s are met / exceeded.
  • Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are made and received on time.
  • Preparation and review of monthly cost reports for area, together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members.
  • Forecasting and monitoring spend against approved Client budgets.
  • Physical measurement of works and agreement of same with client and subcontractors.
  • Agreement of certification and payment of subcontractor accounts - monitoring of such accounts against forecasts.
  • Implementation and compliance with the contract change control procedure and monitoring thereof including communications to client as appropriate.
  • Managing sub-contractors including sending out enquiries, collating prices, comparing with tender, negotiation, order placement, agreement of account and payment.
  • To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Kier Group's policies for risk management.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveyor.
  • CSCS – White, PQP/AQP, RICS.
  • Fully converse and experience of NEC Contracts.
  • Experience with the use of CEMAR desired but not essential.
  • Experience working with Coins / Causeway accounting systems.
  • Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence.
  • Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally as it is client facing.
