Section Engineer – A47 Highway Scheme

Contract Type: Freelance CIS

We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join our delivery team on a major A47 highway project. This is a key site-based role, ideal for someone confident managing technical change, leading engineers, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and implement design changes, ensuring compliance with specifications and programme requirements

Lead and coordinate Site Engineers, providing technical guidance and oversight

Gather, record, and report site information, including as-built data and progress updates

Oversee QA processes, ensuring works meet contractual and regulatory standards

Carry out and sign off quality checks and inspections

Manage and coordinate drainage works, including setting out, installation, and verification

Liaise with design teams, subcontractors, and client representatives

Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme

Requirements

Proven experience as a Section xiskglj Engineer on highways or civil engineering projects

Strong understanding of design change control

Experience managing and mentoring engineering teams on site

Solid knowledge of QA systems, inspections, and documentation

Hands-on experience with highways drainage

SMSTS (or SSSTS), CSCS

Good communication and organisational skills
