A freelance opportunity inside IR35 exists for a Sub Agent, who has progressed through the ranks from Site Engineer to Section Engineer to Sub Agent, on major civil engineering infrastructure projects, particularly on rail projects, for a tier one or principal Contractor. Your proven delivery experience on heavy reinforced concrete structures like viaducts/bridges and earthworks fill would be advantageous.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide Section, Site and Assistant Engineers to ensure effective engineering control and the proper documentation of activities.
- Foster positive relationships with stakeholders and joint venture partners as well as the supply chain.
- Encourage a cost-conscious mindset by efficiently utilising company resources.
- Assist the Agent in managing the cost system, creating schedules, and preparing Quality Files (QF).
- Collaborate with commercial staff to ensure timely and accurate preparation of records for measurement and payment purposes.
- Promote the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies to meet project BIM Execution Plan (BEP) requirements.
- Aid the Agent in procuring necessary materials, sub-contracts, and equipment in a timely manner.
- Regularly review the performance, development, and training needs of subordinate staff with the Agent, addressing underperformance or potential resignations.
- Provide the Agent with insights into potential commercial or contractual liabilities.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards by adhering to company policies through the implementation of method statements, risk assessments, and briefings.
Qualifications:
- A tertiary civil engineering qualification (HND, BSc).
- Extensive tier one delivery experience on large projects, especially rail.
- Proven progression through the engineering ranks from Site Engineer upwards.
- Proficient in the delivery of heavy reinforced concrete structures (not building) and earthworks as found on civil engineering projects.
- Technically knowledgeable on concrete, reinforcing and earthworks specifications as well as construction know-how.
- CSCS MAP, SSSTS, First Aid.
- PTS essential, or willing to obtain one.
