Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent with strong earthworks and drainage experience to join a major HS2 project based in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, taking ownership of key work packages and supporting the successful delivery of large-scale earthworks and drainage operations.

We are looking for a driven and organised individual with a proven background in heavy civil engineering who can lead site teams, manage programme delivery and maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing the day-to-day delivery of earthworks and drainage packages
  • Leading site teams, engineers and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and within budget
  • Coordinating construction activities in line with programme requirements
  • Reviewing and implementing construction methodologies, RAMS and ITPs
  • Monitoring progress, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures
  • Managing quality assurance processes and ensuring compliance with project specifications
  • Supporting commercial teams with cost control, variations and forecasting
  • Liaising with design teams, stakeholders and project management teams
  • Producing short-term programmes and progress reports
  • Driving a positive health, safety and environmental culture across site operations
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a Sub Agent on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong earthworks and drainage experience is essential
  • Experience delivering large-scale infrastructure packages within highways, rail or major civils environments
  • Excellent understanding of construction sequencing, temporary works and site logistics
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts would be advantageous
  • Competent in programme management and reporting
  • CSCS card (essential)
  • SMSTS qualification (essential)
  • Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • HS2 experience is desirable but not essential
