Carmichael are seeking to recruit a Safety, Health and Wellbeing Manager to join the team in the Aylesbury Area on a permanent basis. This role will require regular travel to sites and offices in the Aylesbury area and throughout Buckinghamshire, therefore we do ask that you hold a full driving license.
The Senior Health and Safety Manager will lead and manage all aspects of Safety, Health & Wellbeing for the assigned Delivery Area. This position will engage with the Delivery Team to deliver the Strategy and associated programmes at sectional level and ascertain key construction milestones and feed back to the central SHW function.
This role will be a link between the Delivery Team and the central SH&W function via the Routewide SH&W Manager and ensure the appropriate completion of Hazard Profiles for the designated Delivery Area and implement proportionate local assurance measures in line with requirements. The position will identify trends, anomalies and opportunities for improvement from key performance data and through regular engagement with the local Delivery team.
The Senior Health and Safety Manager will drive a positive SH&W culture onsite and actively promote and engage with “Making the Right Choice” and wellbeing initiatives. This position will share and promote best practice and investigation findings arising from the Delivery Area and manage and monitor consistency of compliance with SH&W BMS requirements across the Delivery Area.
This role will engage with the Delivery Area Team where there is potential for improvements and/or efficiencies to be made to the BMS and communicate the benefits of relevant content. The role will also assure accurate and timely reporting of all necessary SH&W criteria (including events) for the Delivery Area and perform audits and surveillance activities across the sites.
About You
- Holding or working towards a degree (or similar) level qualification in occupational safety and health
- Holding or working towards being a Chartered professional
- Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities
- Strong communication and engagement skills
- Strong knowledge and practical application of SH&W in Construction / Civil Engineering
- Demonstrable experience of managing SH&W for subcontracted and self-delivered works
