Reporting to the Planning Lead, this Senior Planner opportunity is offered on a short-term basis to provide parental cover. You will play a key role in maintaining and developing project programmes to ensure schemes remain on schedule from early design through to completion and handover. Initially focused on pre-construction, you will oversee the design programme and progressively build a comprehensive delivery schedule as design information becomes available. The programme will then be actively managed throughout the construction phase to final closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed tender and contract programmes using the agreed planning software, integrating design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities across the full project lifecycle.
- Identify and analyse the critical path, providing clear insight to the project team and client, along with recommendations for corrective action.
- Establish and maintain programme baselines, managing change control in line with project requirements.
- Accurately update project progress, reprogramme accordingly, and communicate impacts, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all programmes meet contractual and business requirements.
- Produce all planning outputs in line with company standards and procedures.
- Oversee multiple project programmes while supporting and mentoring Planning Engineers and Junior Planners, ensuring quality and consistency of deliverables.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Strong experience using Primavera P6.
- Background in construction or engineering environments.
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience administering NEC contracts.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
- Flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing project demands.
- Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly.
- Experience within the water sector.
- Experience working in enterprise-level environments.
- Relevant qualification in Engineering or Project Management.
- CSCS card.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project.
