Carmichael UK are seeking an experienced Section Engineer (Structures) to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering a major highways infrastructure project in Gloucestershire. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile scheme involving complex structural works, including reinforced concrete structures, bridges, retaining walls and associated civil engineering elements. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery team, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with the Sub Agent and Site Agent, you will be responsible for managing engineering activities across designated sections of the project, providing technical support and driving successful project delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Managing and coordinating engineering activities for structural works packages
  • Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design specifications and programme requirements
  • Producing and reviewing ITPs, work package plans and quality documentation
  • Managing setting out activities and maintaining accurate site records
  • Supporting subcontractor management and monitoring progress on site
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues in collaboration with design teams
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Reviewing and implementing RAMS and temporary works requirements
  • Preparing as-built records and supporting project handover activities
  • Assisting with short-term planning and programme management
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Section Engineer, Senior Engineer or Site Engineer on major civil engineering projects
  • Strong structures experience, including reinforced concrete, bridges, retaining walls, culverts or similar heavy civils works
  • Experience working on highways, infrastructure or major projects environments
  • Strong understanding of QA processes, ITPs and engineering documentation
  • Competent with setting out equipment such as Leica or Trimble
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • CSCS Card essential
  • SMSTS or SSSTS advantageous
  • Temporary Works knowledge beneficial
