We are looking for a Design Manager to lead and coordinate design activities for a complex enabling works programme to support a Tier 1 Contractor working on Sizewell C. This role is central to ensuring design assurance, buildability, and safe delivery across earthworks, utilities, pavements, and concrete packages.
The Role
- Oversee and manage all design deliverables throughout pre‑construction and construction, ensuring integration across multidisciplinary enabling works packages.
- Lead the design process for earthworks, utilities, pavements, and concrete scopes.
- Coordinate designers, consultants, temporary works teams, and delivery engineers.
- Review design information for buildability, safety, and programme alignment.
- Manage design approvals, change control, RFI processes, and technical governance.
- Produce and maintain design trackers, interface schedules, and technical risk registers.
- Support site teams with design clarifications, methodologies, ITP input, and technical briefings.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, standards, CDM, and project execution plans.
- Liaise with planners, commercial teams, and project leads to ensure integrated delivery.
About You
- Proven experience as a Design Manager, Design Coordinator, Technical Manager, or have worked up to a delivery Agent or Project Manager level in civil engineering.
- Strong background in earthworks, utilities and diversions, pavement construction, and reinforced concrete structures.
- Experience supporting or delivering enabling works on large infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of temporary works, constructability, engineering assurance, and design compliance.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Engineering background (Civil Engineering degree or equivalent).
