CarmichaelUK is recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering a major highways project in Norfolk. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with major highways or structures experience to support a high-profile Tier 1 project with long-term continuity of work.
We are seeking a proactive engineer with strong technical ability, proven experience delivering key work packages, and confidence coordinating subcontractors, managing QA, and supporting day-to-day site delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of highways and structural works including earthworks, drainage, structures, kerbing, pavements and reinforced concrete elements.
- Manage and mentor site engineers, ensuring accurate inspections, documentation, and compliance with design and standards.
- Produce and review ITPs, RAMS, WPPs, permits, and QA records.
- Assist with planning and programming activities, progress reporting and tracking daily outputs.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, temporary works, designers and supervisors to resolve technical queries and maintain safe, efficient operations.
- Ensure all activities are delivered safely, in line with programme, quality requirements and site procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major highways or structures projects.
- Strong understanding of reinforced concrete, civils structures, earthworks and drainage.
- Ability to interpret drawings, manage QA processes, and support engineering/technical teams.
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors (desirable).
- CSCS essential; SSSTS/SMSTS preferred.
- Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
