Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer with a strong background in roadworks and highways construction to join a major contractor delivering the prestigious HS2 project in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure schemes, working on complex road realignments, highway construction, drainage and associated civil engineering works.
The Role
As a Site Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring roadworks packages are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting out for roadworks and highways construction activities
- Managing and recording engineering information on site
- Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design drawings and specifications
- Producing and reviewing as-built surveys
- Quality assurance and inspection of completed works
- Supporting subcontractors and site management teams
- Raising and closing out technical queries
- Maintaining accurate site records and documentation
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements
Essential Experience
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Strong roadworks/highways construction experience
- Experience with earthworks, drainage, kerbing, pavement construction and road alignments
- Competent using GPS and total station equipment
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors preferred
- CSCS Card
Desirable
- HS2, National Highways or major infrastructure project experience
- SMSTS or SSSTS
