About CMDP+
CMDP+ has secured the AMP8 Capital Programme Strategic Delivery Partner Framework with Southern Water, continuing the successful joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. Between 2025–2030, CMDP+ will deliver critical investment in Water and Wastewater infrastructure, including upgrades to Treatment Works, Pumping Stations, and Reservoirs.
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Engineer to lead and deliver commissioning activities across Water and Wastewater projects. You will manage the installation, testing, and handover of process plant and equipment, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will liaise with design teams, contractors, and suppliers, and will be responsible for FAT/SAT testing, defect close-out, and the preparation of commissioning documentation and client training. This role may include front-line supervision and hands-on commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate commissioning, installation, and systems integration across the project lifecycle
- Monitor supply chain performance and drive continuous improvement
- Ensure equipment is FAT tested, snag-free, and ready for site delivery
- Develop and implement commissioning plans and procedures
- Supervise subcontractor installations and ensure compliance with quality standards and ITPs
- Undertake hands-on commissioning, troubleshooting, and defect resolution
- Review electrical/mechanical schematics, FDS, P&IDs, and propose design changes where required
- Deliver training to client operations and maintenance teams
- Provide progress and status reporting to senior management
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- HNC/Degree in Engineering or engineering apprenticeship with NVQ
- 3 years’ commissioning experience in the Water Industry
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical installation and commissioning processes
- ECS (CSCS) Card, Water Hygiene Card, SSSTS/SMSTS, BS7671 18th Edition, First Aid at Work
- Proven ability to deliver installation and commissioning projects through to handover
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and self-management skills
Desirable
- Chartered/Professional registration (MICE, IMechE, MCIOB)
- CompEx Qualifications
- Experience supervising site teams
- Knowledge of water/wastewater process engineering standards and legislation
