Carmichael UK is currently recruiting an experienced Agent with a strong earthworks background to support delivery on a major HS2 infrastructure package in Buckinghamshire. This is a key role within the site delivery team, offering the opportunity to take responsibility for large-scale bulk earthworks on one of the UK’s most significant civil engineering projects.
The Role
As Agent, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of earthworks activities, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality requirements. You will work closely with site engineers, section engineers, subcontractors, and senior management to drive progress across bulk excavation, cut & fill, and groundworks operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing bulk earthworks and groundworks activities on site
- Leading site teams and coordinating subcontractors
- Overseeing short-term planning and programme delivery
- Ensuring works are delivered to specification and quality standards
- Managing method statements, permits, and temporary works
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Liaising with engineering, commercial, and planning teams
- Reporting progress and issues to senior site management
About You
- Proven experience as an Agent or Senior Agent on earthworks-heavy civil engineering projects
- Strong background in bulk earthworks, mass haul, and groundworks
- Experience on major infrastructure, rail, or highways schemes preferred
- SMSTS and CSCS essential
- Confident leader with strong organisational and communication skills
- Proactive and delivery-focused approach
