Carmichael UK is supporting a major contractor operating within a rail framework environment and is seeking an experienced Sub Agent to support the delivery of structures and earthworks packages.
This role suits a strong construction manager who is comfortable working in live rail environments and managing complex civils works from planning through to delivery.
You will take responsibility for the construction management and delivery of rail‑based civils works, with a particular focus on structures and earthworks.
Key responsibilities include
Managing the day‑to‑day delivery of structures and earthworks within a rail framework environment.
Planning, sequencing and coordinating works to meet programme and possession constraints.
Producing and reviewing method statements, RAMS, Work Package Plans (WPPs), Task Briefing Sheets (TBSs) and ITPs.
Managing subcontractors delivering earthworks, reinforced concrete, retaining walls, drainage and associated civils works.
Ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with rail standards and framework requirements.
Coordinating with rail stakeholders (e. g. Network Rail / framework partners) and internal project teams.
Managing temporary works requirements and interfaces with design teams.
Driving quality assurance, inspections, sign‑offs and as‑built documentation.
Providing strong constructability input, identifying practical and workable solutions to site challenges.
Supporting possession planning and delivery, including weekend and night working where required.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Sub Ageng within a rail framework environment.
Strong background delivering structures and earthworks (RC structures, retaining walls, bulk earthworks, drainage).
Confident managing subcontractors, site teams and multiple work fronts.
Strong planning and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Comfortable producing and managing rail‑specific documentation and working under framework governance.
Effective communicator, able to liaise with clients, designers, planners and delivery teams
