Carmichael UK is working with a Tier 1 contractor delivering key drainage and infrastructure works on the HS2 project in Buckinghamshire. We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of drainage works, with a particular emphasis on quality assurance and documentation.

This role is ideal for an engineer who is highly organised, detail-focused, and confident managing quality processes within a major infrastructure environment.

The Role

As Site Engineer, you will support the drainage package by ensuring works are delivered in line with specification, programme, and HS2 quality standards. You will work closely with site management, supervisors, and subcontractors to manage inspections, records, and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of drainage works, including deep and shallow drainage, manholes, culverts, and SUDS
  • Manage and maintain quality documentation, including ITPs, inspection records, test results, and as-built information
  • Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, and HS2 quality requirements
  • Support quality inspections, audits, and assurance reviews
  • Assist with method statements, work package plans, and technical submissions
  • Liaise with subcontractors and site teams to resolve quality-related issues
  • Maintain accurate records of completed works
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance

About You

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering
  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer working on drainage or infrastructure packages
  • Strong understanding of QA processes and quality documentation
  • Experience working on Tier 1 infrastructure or HS2 projects (desirable)
  • Organised, methodical, and detail-oriented approach
  • CSCS card (essential)
