Carmichael UK is working in partnership with a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor delivering major structural packages on the HS2 project in Northamptonshire. We are seeking an experienced Agent with a strong background in structures and reinforced concrete works to lead site delivery on this nationally significant infrastructure programme.
The Role
As Agent, you will take full responsibility for the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of complex RC and structural works, including bridges, viaducts, retaining walls, and associated substructures. You will lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered in line with programme, budget, and HS2 standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of structural and reinforced concrete works
- Lead and manage site teams, including Sub Agents, Section Engineers, and Site Engineers
- Plan and sequence works to meet programme and production targets
- Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, ITPs, and method statements
- Manage subcontractors, resources, and plant efficiently
- Oversee quality assurance, inspections, and as-built documentation
- Identify and manage risks, technical challenges, and construction issues
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental performance
- Liaise with senior management, designers, and the commercial team
About You
- Strong background as an Agent / Site Agent on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Proven experience delivering structures and reinforced concrete packages
- Confident managing large site teams and multiple subcontractors
- Excellent understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, and quality processes
- Experience on HS2 or similar Tier 1 projects is highly advantageous
- SMSTS and CSCS (essential)
