CarmichaelUK is working with a Tier 1 contractor on a high-profile highways project in Norfolk and is recruiting for an experienced Agent to take ownership of a key section of works. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled leader to manage delivery from planning through to handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team & Work Environment
    • Lead and mentor the engineering team within your section
    • Foster a collaborative, safe, and productive site environment
    • Communicate effectively across site teams, designers, and client reps
    • Promote a culture of continuous feedback and development
  • Design & Technical
    • Review technical drawings and raise TQs as needed
    • Write and review Temporary Works Design Briefs
    • Ensure the team is building to the latest, correct design information
  • Planning & Programming
    • Develop and maintain whole life programmes for your works
    • Oversee 4-week lookaheads, progress tracking, and resource planning
    • Liaise with the planning team to address constraints and programme risks
    • Support and challenge strategic CL31 & CL32 programmes
  • Commercial Oversight
    • Prepare and administer subcontractor scopes and instructions
    • Monitor and update CEMAR for contractual communications
    • Forecast and reconcile material and plant usage
    • Support the commercial team with payment applications and CE reviews
  • Quality & Handover
    • Ensure the works meet specification and quality assurance standards
    • Oversee ITPs, quality records, and handover documentation
    • Manage and close out Non-Conformances promptly
    • Take full accountability for handover of your section

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Agent or Sub Agent on highways or civils projects
  • Strong background in planning, programme management, and site supervision
  • Experience working with Tier 1 contractors
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and subcontractor management
  • Proficient with CEMAR and Common Data Environments
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
