Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced MEICA & Commissioning Manager to join a major water infrastructure programme within the Thames Water framework. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated professional with extensive experience in the design, delivery and commissioning of MEICA systems across complex water and wastewater treatment projects. You will play a key role in leading commissioning activities from design through to project handover, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, management and delivery of all MEICA and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with designers, suppliers, subcontractors, construction teams and Thames Water stakeholders.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are delivered in line with programme, budget and quality requirements.
  • Review subcontractor technical specifications and ensure compliance with Thames Water standards, British Standards and WIMES requirements.
  • Manage interfaces, outages and commissioning risks, ensuring effective mitigation strategies are implemented.
  • Lead the production and review of commissioning documentation, including commissioning manuals, O&M manuals and Asset Completion Documentation (ACD).
  • Drive best practice, standardisation and continuous improvement across MEICA delivery.
  • Attend and lead technical meetings, workshops and commissioning reviews.
  • Support the management of project risk and opportunity registers.
  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Participate in internal and client audits as required.
  • Undertake duties as LV Authorised Person (Electrical or Mechanical) where applicable.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience delivering MEICA design, installation and commissioning within the UK water industry.
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale water and wastewater treatment projects from design through to handover.
  • Previous experience acting as an Electrical or Mechanical Authorised Person on complex systems.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning processes including ECI, design reviews, RAMS, ITPs, quality plans, check sheets, programmes and handover documentation.
  • Experience working for a main contractor within the water sector.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • HNC/HND in Engineering or completed engineering apprenticeship with significant MEICA delivery experience.
  • Valid CSCS/ECS card.
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Blue Water Hygiene Card and Thames Water Passport.
  • Thorough understanding of industry standards, statutory legislation and safety requirements.

Desirable

  • Professional membership with IET, IMechE or SOE.
  • Engineering registration at EngTech, IEng or CEng level.
  • Experience working within the Thames Water framework.
