We are looking for a motivated Modern Apprentice – Logistics & Plant Operations Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience while working towards a Scottish Modern Apprenticeship in Supply Chain Management at SCQF Level 7. You’ll be employed from day one, earning while you learn through structured workplace training, supported by an approved training provider and experienced colleagues.
About the Role
The Logistics & Plant Operations Assistant supports the efficient management of our supply chain by ensuring plant, equipment, materials and resources are available when required. Working closely with operational teams, suppliers and internal departments, you’ll develop knowledge across logistics, procurement, inventory management and plant coordination. As your experience grows, you’ll become involved in planning, stock management, purchasing processes and continuous improvement activities that contribute to the overall efficiency of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and coordination of plant, equipment and materials.
- Support the procurement and ordering of goods and services.
- Receive, inspect and accurately record deliveries.
- Maintain stock control systems and inventory records.
- Monitor plant availability and utilisation.
- Assist in scheduling deliveries, collections and transport requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers, colleagues and operational teams to ensure materials are available when required.
- Maintain accurate electronic records using business management systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within stores and logistics operations.
- Follow company Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
- Contribute positively to team meetings and operational planning activities.
Your Modern Apprenticeship
During your apprenticeship you will work towards the Scottish Modern Apprenticeship in Supply Chain Management (SCQF Level 7). The programme combines practical workplace experience with structured learning and assessment. You’ll develop competence in areas including:

You’ll also complete an industry enhancement such as Effective Stock Control, Lean (Continuous Improvement), Project Management or Health & Safety for Purchasing & Stores.
